KuroKoti

At minima. collaborating with like-minded design obsessives and local businesses is an integral part of our work. Last month saw the coming together of creative entrepreneurs, photographers, interior designers and ourselves, culminating in the furnishing and photography of ‘KuroKoti’, Birmingham’s finest new hire location.
Designed in 2018 by award-winning architects, BPN, KuroKoti or ‘black house’ infuses contemporaneity with elegance whilst paying tribute to the original 1960s cubed house that it replaced.
Tasked with the enviable job of populating this beautiful space with our wares, we offset
the minimalist aesthetic with some of our high impact design pieces.
In the living room Modernist greats Marcel Breuer and Fritz Hansen met through the selection of Wassily and PK22 chairs in black leather and wicker, while the Flos Arco Lamp leant into the conversation with its statement arching stem and spherical shade illuminating the contrasting squareness of the PK61 slate coffee table.
Awash with natural light the kitchen provided the perfect spot to showcase our Ferm Living Hermann Bar Stools in Black while the glazed curtain walls framed our Jacobsen Egg and Swan Chairs and their surrounding backdrop of Japanese concrete terraces.
Dining area or breakout space for workshops and meetings, the Vitra Plate Dining Table in Walnut, and Fritz Hansen Series 7 chairs provided ample seating adding a visual softness to the polished concrete floors they sat upon.
In smaller pockets of the house glimpses of its charred larch exterior peeked through the alcove windows. Along with the bespoke balustrade staircase they enabled us to create smaller vignettes focussing on singular pieces of furniture from the CH07 Shell Chair by Wegner to the almighty Eames Lounge Chair.
